About Us

Centro Galego offers authentic, traditional tapas with fresh and high quality ingredients of the Mediterranean cuisine. We are famous for our fun and lively atmosphere as symbol of Galician and Spanish culture.

Our Story

Where It All Began

Galicia, known in Spain as the “land of the 1000 rivers”, is a peculiar land, very attached to its roots and traditions. Located in the Northeast of Spain, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea, the coast offers great contrasts, from the smooth beaches of As Mariñas to the dangerous cliffs of Costa de la Muerte, the “coast of death”. This prestigious enclave offers the highest quality fish and seafood, and if we add the large expanses of mountains and the excellent care and dedication of its people for this, Galicia has superb meat products, which highlight its high gastronomic level.

Centro Galego was born to bring you a piece of Galician to the frenetic London city. Here you can find a corner of Galicia where you will enjoy excellent Galician-Spanish gastronomy surrounded by an outstanding atmosphere.

Among our delicatessens, you will find the authentic flavours of Galician octopus, proper paellas, homemade croquettes, fish and grilled meats. We also hold special days, such as Cocido Gallego day. A warm homemade broth accompanied by the best meat, vegetables and pancakes. In short, an immersive Galician gastronomic experience, all of the course paired with our selection of wines or the undoubted queen of beers in the area: Estrella Galicia.

In addition to the quality of its gastronomy, Galicia is popularly known for its cultural traditions. We can certainly not stop talking about the bagpipe, such is the cultural roots of this instrument in Galicia, that it is part of many popular festivals and traditions. The “Queimada” is a liqueur made of brandy with spices are poured into a clay pot and set on fire. While its flames, the spell that scares away all evils is reading. When the fire goes out, you take a shot, and then body and soul will stay protected. Therefore, we invite you to live this experience with us and let the fire and the spells accompany us in a special evening together with the rhythm of the bagpipes played in the purest Galician style.

What People are Saying

Spanish food and drink in their most authentic, domestic, disarmingly frowzy forms

No one comes here by chance, which means no one feels unwelcome when they arrive. There can sometimes be interesting things to eat and drink here, though that’s not the point of the place. Straightforward generosity alone is what makes it difficult not to have a good time.

“Perfect for celebrations”

My most favourite place – I go there as often as possible. The staff and service are all exquisite. I have introduced lots of my friends and family to the restaurant. I always go there for my Christmas birthday.

The food was superb, the staff couldn’t have been more friendly. Finally a place with Estrella Galicia draft beer in London.”

Note: Estrella Galicia (NOT to be confused with Estrella Damm).
